A wire transfer is an electronic transfer of money. A traditional wire transfer travels electronically from one bank or credit union to another using a network. In addition, the term wire transfer is used for other types of transfers as well, so it is important to clarify requirements if asked to use a wire transfer to send money. Wire transfers are useful because the money moves within one or two days. Within the United States, same-day transfers are possible, and international transfers take an extra day or two.
Can I be scammed using this service?
Never wire money based on the information you receive in an email. If someone sends you instructions electronically, call the recipient and verify the instructions before moving forward. Equally important, hackers may intercept messages and provide information for an account they control. This is especially important if you send large sums.
Similarly, If your title company sends wiring instructions for a down payment, for example, make sure you know where the money is really going.

You will need to fill out a form at either VBSFCU office. You will need to know the beneficiary routing number and account number. Wires initiated after 2:30 PM EST will be posted on the next business day.
International Outgoing Wire:
In addition, we need the originators, banks, and beneficiaries address SWIFT1 code and IBAN#2. Anything received after 1:00 pm will be sent the next business day.

What other money transfer options do you offer?
Our bill payment system can be used to send money to a business or a person. You can do this in the VB Pay portal (bill payment) found inside of SmartLink Home banking.
The IBAN is comprised of a maximum of 27 alphanumeric characters within Europe and a maximum of 34 outside of Europe (German IBAN: 22 characters). At present, the United States does not participate in IBAN. Therefore, VBSFCU does not have an IBAN number.
When sending wire transfers to countries that have IBAN numbers, we recommend including those numbers in your wire transfer documentation. According to the European Directive, only the account-keeping bank may calculate the IBAN / check digits. To obtain the IBAN numbers of another bank, please visit that financial institutions website or contact them directly to obtain that information.
